Folk is Maya Hanisch's first coloring book, based on the unique, personal style she's been developing for several years. Folk is based on the grotesque style, an artistic approach known for its focus on the extravagant, the exaggerated and the fantastical, used throughout art history as a form of creative and decorative expression.
Maya Hanisch has created twenty plates to color, inspired by this style, featuring ornamental elements like human figures, animals, plants and geometric shapes, arranged in an irregular, fantastical way. Maya created Folk as a way to share her creations and give others the opportunity to color in a relaxing, creative way to unwind from daily stress, explore their creativity, and enjoy some quality time for themselves.
She shares her playlist to accompany the coloring process. Folk comes in a large format with thick 250g paper that holds up to a variety of materials. It can be colored with pencils, markers, acrylics, watercolors, and can even be embroidered. It lets adults explore their creativity and experiment with different color combinations.
