What are hydrolats?

Hydrolats are powerful medicinal waters obtained by steam-distilling aromatic plants. Unlike essential oils, their composition is 95% water and 5% essential oil (or less), making them very safe to use since they're less concentrated and don't need dilution.

This is one of the key differences between hydrolats and essential oils.

Since water helps detoxify and firm the skin, using a hydrolat as a facial or body toner will give you a wonderful feeling of cleanliness and hydration. It can also reduce the appearance of wrinkles, as skin cells become more hydrated and oxygenated.
